Mob Spawning Tweaks

Based on player feedback some tweaks to mob spawning will be applied when the server next restarts (6 hours from now), these changes will have the following effect:

  • Aggressive mobs will spawn four times more frequently in all worlds.
  • Aggressive mobs will despawn if the limit of ~25 per chunk is reached, this will stop players experiencing lag if they go afk near a mob spawner etc.
  • Passive mobs will spawn twice as frequently in all worlds.
  • Passive mobs will despawn if the limit of ~50 per chunk is reached, this will stop players from creating lag by spawning/breeding excessive numbers of animals, for example "chicken bombing".

Because of the way the Minecraft server handles spawning the oldest mobs will always despawn first.

Please be careful if you have a large number of animals already, the limits will be enforced when you next spawn an animal in that chunk and if you are not careful you could loose tamed animals if you attempt to spawn more. If you are concerned about this you should reduce the number of animals as soon as possible, or consider moving some to another location.
